1978年滋賀県生まれ
1997年 京都市立銅駝美術工芸高等学校 彫刻科卒業
2001年 京都精華大学 美術学部 立体造形専攻卒業
2003年 沖縄県立芸術大学大学院 造形芸術研究科修了
2025年現在 広島県東広島市在住
写真紙を用いてコラージュ作成した画像を面取り状に組み上げた独自技法「多面化写真彫刻」の制作を手掛ける。様々な生物をモチーフに絵画や彫刻のステレオタイプをあえて不必要なほどに取り入れたシリーズは、形骸化した日本のアート界への皮肉を謳っている。近年は印刷された紙という素材の価値を再考し、彫刻として新たな可能性を模索したシリーズも試みている。

Artist Statement / Practice Overview
Yojiro Omura creates works using his unique technique of “Multifaceted Photo Sculpture,” in which photographic prints are collaged, cut, and assembled into faceted sculptural forms.
By deliberately incorporating exaggerated stereotypes of painting and sculpture into motifs of various creatures, Omura’s works function as a pointed irony toward the increasingly hollow structures of the contemporary Japanese art world.
In recent years, he has also been exploring new sculptural possibilities by reconsidering the materiality and value of printed paper itself.
