『花の向かう先——まなざしと故郷をめぐる二つの想像』
Where Flowers Lead: Two Visions of Seeing and Homeland
花之所向——關於觀看與故鄉的兩種想像
花是自然中最常被觀看與描繪的形象之一，也是連結個人記憶、土地情感與生命經驗的文化符號。本次展覽以花為共同線索，呈現楊維中與常陵各自不同的觀看方式，並探討花朵所指向的情感與精神空間。
楊維中透過花卉意象展開個人觀看與繪畫語言，使花成為感知生命狀態的媒介；常陵則延續《假如故鄉》系列，藉由花與植物的形象，重新思考故鄉的意義。對常陵而言，故鄉並非固定不變的地理位置，而是在記憶、文化變遷與個人經驗之間持續生成的狀態。
兩位藝術家雖然同樣從花出發，作品卻分別通往不同的生命經驗：一方關注觀看與感知，另一方追問記憶與故鄉。花因此不只是美麗的自然形象，也成為承載時間、情感與身分認同的容器。
Flowers are among the most frequently observed and depicted forms in nature, and they serve as cultural symbols that connect personal memory, emotional ties to the land, and lived experience. Using flowers as a shared thread, this exhibition presents the distinct ways Yang Wei-Chung and Chang Ling engage with the act of looking, while exploring the emotional and spiritual spaces to which flowers may point.
Yang Wei-Chung develops a personal visual and painterly language through floral imagery, transforming flowers into a medium through which to perceive and contemplate states of life. Chang Ling, meanwhile, continues his If Home Were… series, using images of flowers and plants to reconsider the meaning of home. For Chang Ling, home is not a fixed geographical location, but an ever-evolving state shaped by the interplay of memory, cultural transformation, and personal experience.
Although both artists begin with flowers, their works lead toward different dimensions of lived experience: one focuses on seeing and perception, while the other explores memory and the meaning of home. Flowers thus become more than beautiful forms found in nature; they become vessels that hold time, emotion, and a sense of identity.
花は、自然のなかで最も身近に見つめられ、描かれてきたモチーフの一つです。同時に、個人の記憶や土地への思い、生命の経験をつなぐ文化的な象徴でもあります。本展では「花」を共通の手がかりとして、楊維中と常陵による異なるまなざしを提示し、花が指し示す感情と精神のありかを探ります。
楊維中は花のイメージを通して独自のまなざしと造形言語を展開し、花を生命の状態を感じ取るための媒体として表現します。一方、常陵は《If My Homeland（假如故鄉）》シリーズとして、花や植物のイメージを通して、故郷の意味を問い直します。常陵にとって故郷とは、固定された地理的な場所ではなく、記憶や文化の変化、個人の経験のなかで絶えず生成されていくものです。
二人の作家は、ともに花を出発点としながら、それぞれ異なる生命の経験へと向かいます。一方は見ることと感じることに目を向け、もう一方は記憶と故郷について問いかけます。ここで花は、単に美しい自然の姿ではなく、時間や感情、アイデンティティを受け止める器となるのです。
